About the show
CMM is an exhibition of electronics manufacturing automation built around the whole production line rather than a single process step. It was started by electronics manufacturing plants and is still aimed at them, which shows in what fills the hall: SMT and DIP lines, test and assembly stations, packing equipment, and the cleanroom, ESD and materials handling a plant has to get right around them. Many stands run complete lines and unmanned workshop demonstrations rather than isolated machines.
Coverage extends beyond the production floor into peripheral equipment such as X-ray inspection, stencil cleaning and solder paste handling, into factory information systems from MES and ERP to paperless work instructions, and into the process materials and tools consumed in volume. That breadth is the point: the nine sections are laid out in production order and presented as a one-stop display of the resources an electronics manufacturing plant needs.
