SEMICON China covers the semiconductor supply chain from design through wafer fabrication, packaging and test. Its floor is weighted towards equipment and materials rather than finished devices: front-end processing equipment, packaging and test equipment, metrology, factory automation, wafers and substrates, process gases and chemicals, and the components and subsystems inside those machines. Foundries, outsourced assembly and test houses, EDA vendors and design companies exhibit in the same halls.

The exhibition has been held in Shanghai since 1988 and runs alongside FPD China, so the same week covers display and photovoltaic manufacturing as well as semiconductors. Four speciality zones sit inside that layout — IC manufacturing, compound semiconductors, the SEMI China talent programme and automotive semiconductors, the last added in 2023, when electric and intelligent vehicles began to raise semiconductor content per car.
