Zhejiang Normal University‘s history traces back to 1906 with the establishment of the Quanzhe Normal School, though its modern foundation was laid on April 16, 1956, when it was approved by the Ministry of Education as Hangzhou Junior Teachers College. It was upgraded to Hangzhou Teachers College in 1958. In 1962, Hangzhou Teachers College merged with Zhejiang Education College and Zhejiang Sports College to become Zhejiang Teachers College. The institution relocated from Hangzhou to Jinhua in 1965 and was renamed Zhejiang Normal University in 1985.
